Entry Route for Nigerian Citizens
Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes a list of countries whose citizens can apply for a visitor visa only at the diplomatic representations or consular posts of the Republic of Armenia abroad, and with invitation only. Nigeria appears on that list.
Practically, that means:
- Expect a mission-based application, not an online one and not a visa issued at the airport.
- An invitation is part of the requirement, not an optional add-on.
- Lead time matters — appointments and document assembly take longer than most people budget for.
- Confirm which Armenian diplomatic mission handles applications from Nigeria before you book travel, because that answer determines your logistics entirely.
Do not treat entering on another basis as a workaround. Under current law, entering on the wrong visa type and then applying for employment-based residence can be refused. The invitation route is the route.
Work Authorisation Runs Through Your Employer
Entry is one question; the right to work is another. Armenia’s current system is employer-led — your Armenian employer registers the vacancy and files through the Republic of Armenia’s work permit e-system, and the employment-based temporary residence step follows.
That ordering has a practical consequence for you: a genuine employer and a genuine offer come first. Anyone offering to arrange work authorisation with no employer attached is describing something that does not exist in the current framework. Where Nigerian Candidates Fit
Nigeria has deep talent pools, but Armenia is a small labour market and demand is narrow. Being blunt about the fit saves you money:
- IT and tech — the strongest fit for Nigerian professionals. Armenia has a real technology sector, international teams often work in English, and software skills transfer without qualification-recognition problems.
- Construction and welding — consistent demand for skilled trades, especially welders and experienced site workers with documented experience.
- Driver and logistics — licence recognition is usually the deciding question.
- Healthcare and nursing — possible, but qualification recognition is demanding and slow; go in expecting scrutiny.
- Hospitality and restaurants — realistic mainly for back-of-house roles, since customer-facing work usually needs Armenian or Russian.

Language: Calibrate Your Expectations
English fluency is an advantage in Nigeria’s favour in technology and international workplaces, and it makes the paperwork easier to handle accurately. It is not, however, a general substitute for local language ability. In broad terms: a passport with comfortable validity remaining, evidence of your qualifications and employment history, and documents tied to the job offer once one exists. Requirements vary by case and change over time, so confirm specifics rather than relying on any checklist, including ours.

Indicative Costs
Government fees are not set by nationality, and we have no verified Nigeria-specific figure, so we will not invent one. The site’s indicative and unverified planning figures for the employer-led process, all pending lawyer review: an employment-based residence card at approximately 105,000 AMD, an indicative all-in total of roughly 155,950–170,950 AMD, and processing of up to about two months. A work-entry visa fee of 15,000 AMD has been indicated for the new system once it becomes operational.

The Fraud You Are Being Targeted With
Nigerians are among the most heavily targeted nationalities for overseas-job fraud, and the invitation requirement is exactly the hook. Once someone knows you cannot simply apply online, they can sell you an invitation, a “processing” fee, or a promised approval.
Refuse all of the following without exception:
- Payment demanded to secure a job, an invitation, or an approval, as opposed to assisting with a legitimate application.
- An employer you cannot independently verify exists and is really hiring.
- Any suggestion to travel first and sort out your status afterwards.
- Payment to a personal account, in cash, or in crypto.
- Refusal to give you a written contract you can read and keep before money moves.
